In the Furnas it is mandatory to have lunch or dinner the famous and typical Furnas Cozido – Stew. It has the same ingredients as the Portuguese stew, but with a characteristic and pleasant flavor, cooked slowly with the steam from the volcanic activity of the soil.
Hotel Terra Nostra Restaurant
One of the best restaurants to enjoy the Furnas stew is at Hotel Terra Nostra.
It is the most expensive option, but as the price of the meal includes entry to Terra Nostra Park, the price is already cheaper.
Tony´s Restaurant
Another good option for the stew is the Tonys Restaurant, in the center of the village, next to the church. The stew is well served and no surprises.
Vale das Furnas Restaurant – Camping Park
The option with the best quality/price ratio is at Vale das Furnas restaurant, the restaurant at the Furnas campsite. It has special prices for families with children or large groups.
It is not very popular with tourists, but it is well known by the locals.
